CraftJack: You have been in this business since 1991. Why did you get into it?

Paul Peterson: I am a third generation contractor. My father and grandfather were both contractors. My father and I both started our own businesses and I am happy say that my two sons, Carrigan and Hayden, have joined me.

It’s great because my sons have been hand-trained from childhood about the principles of good work. They are incredible, trustworthy and committed.

CraftJack: What is the goal of every remodeling project?

Peterson: I want a 5-star review from every single customer. When a customer signs with us, they are the most important person on the planet. It’s not just about the money, but what people think of you as well. If you have that mindset, you are going to be successful.

CraftJack: What is your favorite part of home remodeling?

Peterson: I have always sought the approval of other people, as well as my father and grandfather. I love making people happy. There’s nothing worse than an unhappy customer. Unhappy customers really bother me.

This attitude is part of my self-esteem and part of what makes you as a person.

CraftJack: What are some of the most frustrating aspects of the business?

Peterson: There are no problems, just new opportunities to find solutions.

When you have a positive outlook and take the right progressive steps, you don’t have those frustrating moments. If you have a selfish outlook and become greedy, then you’re going to have problems at the core of your business and who you are. Money and greed easily lead to conflict.

Hurwith: How do you promote your business?

Peterson: Through happy customers and word of mouth. When you go out of your way and make the customer your first priority, you are going to have success. Treat them as the most important person on the planet. Treat them as you would want to be treated.

We are in the business to make money, but people notice when you are genuine. Homeowners are smart. Coming in on a personal level generally leads to a lot of positive results.

CraftJack Why did you sign up with CraftJack?

Peterson: CraftJack is the real deal. They do what they say they’re going to do. CraftJack’s level of service emulates the same service I provide to my customers. That’s why I love CraftJack.

I am totally confident that when I get in front of a customer brought by CraftJack, I have a good shot at closing the deal. I have been with CraftJack for a little over a year and I love it.

CraftJack: What was the biggest job you received through CraftJack?

Peterson: The very first lead I received from CraftJack was a roofing lead, but it turned into a porch, flooring and painting job. It was a total remodel. She wrote me a glowing review. In fact, considering that it was a $50,000 job, I even took her to dinner!

No matter what business you are in, when times are tough, just remember, “There are no problems, just new opportunities to find solutions.”
