Video is the future of marketing. It’s really that simple. The fact there has been an 800% increase in online video consumption over the last six years proves my point.

Now that you’re convinced, I am here to show you why video, another form of visual marketing, is even better than photos and text.
Video Lets You Expand on Details
When it comes to the home remodeling industry, people are looking for ways to save money and complete renovation projects themselves. They go online, trying to find the best blogs, such as ImproveNet, or head to Pinterest for inspiration. But, more often than not, they look for how-to videos. As I noted last week, people process information with visuals better than text. That means a how-to video is the perfect way to show a possible client how to complete a project.
Additionally, unlike photos, videos let you expand on a topic. For instance, if you were trying to show a homeowner how to build a shed, a video would be a great way to expand on the importance of a level base and sloped roof. You Don’t Have To Scroll with Video
Photos are great. After all, it was the main theme in Your Profile Page Needs Visuals. Nonetheless, one downfall that comes with posting photos is the time commitment for the user.

I couldn’t go a whole blog without throwing a few more stats at you. While video is not as popular in home improvement as it is in some other industries, certain statistics will make you reconsider your marketing strategy.
From the brand side, according to Marketing Land, video ad spend was expected to reach $4.4 Billion in 2013. Looking at the consumer side, according to iStock, internet users spend 88% more time on websites with video. From a brand perspective, you always want your consumer spending more time on your website. All in all, you’ll have a better chance at converting them into customers if you add videos.
Video is Good for Search
Google dominates the search engine world. When homeowners research local contractors, they almost always use Google. Therefore, you want your website to show up when they search certain keywords like “home remodeling,” “bathroom remodel” or “kitchen renovation.” Well, video plays a key role in search engine (marketing) optimization (SEO).
When you add a video to YouTube, they make you add a title and short description. Contractors should always take advantage of these sections by writing the most detailed descriptions. This way, when people search something related to the video, you’ll have a better chance of showing up on their Google search page.
As a result, the next time they search “bathroom remodeling,” your video of “How To Install A Bath Fan” may show up.
Video is Great for CraftJack Profile Pages
Video also lets you stand out among other CraftJack users. Believe it or not, many CraftJack contractors don’t have a video attached to their CraftJack profile page. After adding your marketing or how-to video to YouTube, you can easily add it to the “About This Company” section by just copying and pasting the YouTube link.
In addition to all the benefits above, adding a video would push your “About” section down and make your profile even more visual than it already is. As you can see from Bellar Pools Inc’s profile page and past blog posts, adding more visual elements is always a win-win.
